Terms of Service

Last updated: June 3, 2026

1. Agreement to These Terms

By creating an account or using Rate My Agency (the Service), you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old.

2. What the Service Is

Rate My Agency is a platform for anonymous, first-hand workplace feedback about law enforcement agencies and their supervisors. The Service is not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by any government agency. Reviews are the opinions of individual users and are not statements of fact made or verified by the Service.

3. Accounts

You must register with a valid email address, keep your credentials secure, and maintain only one account. You are responsible for activity on your account. You may submit one review per agency and one review per supervisor; you may update a review instead of posting duplicates.

4. Your Content

You confirm that your reviews reflect your genuine, first-hand experience and your honest opinion. You retain ownership of your content and grant the Service a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it in anonymized form. You are solely responsible for what you post.

5. Content Rules

In addition to the full Community Guidelines, you must never post:

  • Statements of fact you know to be false, or fabricated experiences.
  • Confidential, sealed, or classified information, or details that could compromise an ongoing investigation or officer safety.
  • Personal identifying information about any individual, including home addresses, phone numbers, schedules, family details, or photographs.
  • Threats, harassment, or incitement of violence against any person.

6. Anonymity and Its Limits

Public pages never display reviewer identity, and this is enforced at the database level, not just in the interface. Reviews are linked internally to accounts solely to enforce one-review-per-user limits and to support moderation. We do not voluntarily disclose reviewer identity. However, we may be legally required to disclose account information in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful process. Write your reviews with this in mind.

7. Moderation

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines. Users can flag content for review. Moderation actions are recorded in an internal audit log. We have no obligation to monitor all content and do not guarantee removal of any particular content.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We do not verify the accuracy of reviews. Scores and rankings are mathematical aggregates of user submissions and are not endorsements or assessments by the Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for the content posted by users. Our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Service and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from content you post or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Sections 4, 6, and 8 through 13 survive termination.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law and Contact

These Terms are governed by applicable United States federal and state law. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. Questions or notices: use the Report tools on the site or the contact information on our About page.
